Formed late in 1993 in Brisbane, Midget are now established in Sydney, with very little sensible footwear and a serious pyre of talent to burn. Midget released two EP's leading up to their debut album. Vagas Wandering, released in 1995, rocked in a garagey way, and 1996's brightly-produced pinch of guitar power , The Toggle Switch, both paved the way for Total Abandonment of Better Understanding. Some demagogues of corporate rock would say that four years between forming and releasing a debut album is too long in rock and roll, but when the seething, lop-sided riff of the album's opening track Self Container breaks into an up-tempo canter, you'll agree that Midget are brilliant in a slightly different way to Celine Dion. |
